There are many waterfront homes and cottages on Lake Simcoe as well as many benefits to living on or within close proximity of the lake. The lake itself is beautiful and has several beaches which attract visitors from the GTA who are looking for cleaner, warmer water than what Lake Ontario has to offer. In the summer, the lake attracts many boaters and boating events. As well there are seven yacht clubs around the lake, which host a number of regattas. There is also an active sailing community on the lake. In the winter, the lake freezes over completely and hosts a number of ice fishing competitions, making it one of the most intensely fished lakes in Ontario. There is more than boating and fishing on Lake Simcoe…if you're interested in something more adventurous, scuba diving is a popular activity on the lake, especially at the sight of the “J.C. Morrison” shipwreck.
