Last week, a handful of our ladies at Chestnut Park banded together to form a team of builders to help Habitat Humanity build foundations and walls for 50 townhouses on Pinery Trail in Toronto.
This is the third time sales representative Maggie Lind and her assistant Erin Breaton have taken the initiative to organize this to represent Chestnut Park. The women were split into two groups, and each group was given tasks to complete and trained on how to perform them safely. They had the opportunity to use many tools from hammers to table saws and everything in between.
Maggie sees this opportunity as a positive thing from two sides, "It is not only a very gratifying experience to play a role in the successful completion of a home for a family in need, but it also perfectly aligns with our line of work. Gathering additional knowledge about the actual construction of homes is invaluable in our roles as realtors, and can only benefit our clients more in the future. It is a win-win opportunity that I hope Chestnut Park will continue to play a role in annually for years to come."
Every day, women contribute to the social, economic, and cultural well-being of our great city. Habitat for Humanity GTA’s unique Women Build event celebrates and harnesses the unstoppable power of women to come together to help transform a community and make a family’s dream of homeownership come true.
